Privacy Policy

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a securely hashed password (or an identifier from a sign-in provider if you use one). This lets you save progress and sync it across devices.

Learning progress. We store your course progress, completed lessons, streaks, spaced repetition (SRS) review state, and daily goals so your learning continues seamlessly across sessions and devices.

Usage analytics. We use PostHog to collect anonymous, aggregated product analytics (for example, which lessons are started or completed, where users get stuck, and general app performance). This helps us understand what is working and improve the learning experience.

Speech features (optional). If you use speaking or pronunciation exercises, short audio clips are sent to our servers and to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text purely to transcribe and score your attempt. Audio is processed for that purpose and is not used to identify you.

Purchase information. If you buy a subscription, the purchase is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed through RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status and a purchase identifier. We do not collect or store your full payment card details.

Diagnostics. We use Sentry to collect crash reports and performance data so we can fix bugs and keep the app stable.

• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to anyone.
• We do not use third-party advertising networks or ad-tracking SDKs.
• We do not build advertising profiles or share your data with advertisers.
• We do not access your contacts, photos, or location beyond what a feature you explicitly use requires.

• To provide, maintain, and sync your learning experience.
• To save your progress, streaks, and review schedule.
• To process and validate subscriptions and entitlements.
• To understand how the app is used and improve lessons and features.
• To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and improve performance.

We rely on a small set of trusted providers to operate Sikhna. Each only receives the data needed for its function:

• Supabase — secure storage of your account, progress, and learning data.
• RevenueCat — managing subscriptions and entitlements.
• PostHog — product analytics.
• Sentry — crash reporting and diagnostics.
• Google Cloud — speech-to-text and text-to-speech for audio features.
• Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing for subscriptions.

We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, for tax or legal purposes). Anonymous, aggregated analytics may be retained.

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with industry-standard safeguards. While no system is perfectly secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal data by contacting us. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing. We honor verified requests.

Sikhna is intended for teens and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
